2011 Greetings, Fellow Photographers!
The Idaho Photographic Workshop (IPW) is focused on making 2011 one of its best ever for its member photographers and the community at large.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, IPW is dedicated to promoting the art and appreciation of photography throughout the state. We gather for photo-shooting opportunities, present classroom and in-the-field workshops, share and critique images, and present knowledgeable, interesting experts on a vast array of photographic and artistic endeavors.
Farm 2 Fork 2 Photo
At the January Board meeting the IPW board adopted Farm 2 Fork 2 Photo, a yearlong project that connects IPW photographers and The Year of Idaho Food. The Year of Idaho Food is a grass-roots, year-long, statewide look at the surprising variety of foods grown in Idaho — and not simply focusing on the foods themselves, but also on the social, economic and environmental significance of those foods.
IPW photographers from across Idaho are encouraged to photograph for FARM 2 FORK 2 PHOTO monthly, weekly or even daily. The goal is to build a diverse and yearlong photo diary that produces a montage of varied and unique images of anyone or anything that has to do with Idaho’s foods including Idaho farmers, ranchers, and all that work to bring Idaho foods to Idaho plates as well as the products and the process of making and serving Idaho meals from Idaho gown ingredients.
IPW members are urged to start photographing now and share their FARM 2 FORK 2 PHOTOS at our monthly meetings. Beginning near the end of 2011 the IPW intends to gather photos from IPW members across the state for a 2012 juried exhibit celebrating The Year of Idaho Food. The exhibit concept is in the process of becoming an official proposal to the Idaho State Capitol for exhibit in 2012. Other exhibit locations, a traveling exhibit and possibly even a book are under consideration. Start photographing now and watch the IPW Website for more details as the project progresses.
