Program Topic: The Magic Shutter Speed by Keith S Walklet

We are familiar with "being in the groove."

Golfers enjoy the perfect swing. Tennis players hit with the sweet spot of the racquet. Singers celebrate perfect pitch.

IPW member, Keith S. Walklet, reveals how to "be in the groove" with the Magic Shutter Speed.

What is this Magic Shutter Speed?

Contemporary cameras easily freeze the motion of a waterfall or raging river. But is that what you want?

Keith comments, "I rarely like the look of subjects "frozen" by a fast shutter speed, especially things that are normally fluid. Partially blurred subjects intrigue me."

What is this Magic Shutter Speed?

By partially blurring the motion, you can capture the feeling of watching athletes flex their muscles, the speed of a running horse, the pulses, undulations, crashes, twists and swirls of water.

What is this Magic Shutter Speed?

Join Keith as he looks at how we perceive motion. By using slower shutter speeds, you can increase the quality of images. This is where the photographic magic lies.
